Funics: fun with phonics 2026-27

At Funics, we prepare ears, voices, and fingers for reading and writing through fun, interactive classes for children aged 2.5 years up to school age. Led by qualified teachers, our sessions share the joy of language in creative, energetic, and accessible ways for both carers and children. Each week, we explore a new story and focus on a sound or language skill using action songs, rhymes, creative activities, and play, developing essential listening and speaking skills. We nurture phonics, gross and fine motor skills, and encourage lots of talking to support children’s natural growth and a love of literacy. Plus, on Fridays , we offer a special session for Reception and KS1 home-educated children to work on handwriting, phonics, and reading skills.

Join our brand-new Funics sessions with Rainbow Rosie the Reading and Writing Monster! Perfect for children who already know most of their sounds and are ready to start reading and writing or build on early skills. Each week alternates between reading and writing: reading weeks include stories, tricky word games and sentence building; writing weeks focus on motor skills, handwriting and creative writing activities. Every session is playful and hands-on with our Funics playdough song, flashcards, sand, whiteboards and more. Designed to boost confidence, coordination and school readiness while making learning fun!
