We are a friendly school providing children of all ages with classes in performing arts. Whether you are looking for Classical Ballet, Tap, Acrobatic Dance, Freestyle, GCSE Dance , we are sure we have something to suit you and your child.
For the Under 6’s we have fun classes using feathers, pom poms and musical instruments. They have a combination of ballet and tap. Once, children reach the age of 5, there is more open to them they can do Acro and Freestyle as well as continuing with Ballet if they so choose.

Come and Try Tap at Babel
If your child would like to discover Tap, we’d love to welcome them to Babel. Children can begin Tap from 4 years old , and complete beginners are very welcome. Following a trial lesson, we can talk to you about how your child responded to the class and recommend the most appropriate next step.
Their Ballet Journey Starts Here…
Those first dance classes are very special. Children can begin their ballet journey with Babel from 3 years old at both our Hayes and Heston branches . Our early years classes introduce children to the wonderful world of ballet in a happy, imaginative and encouraging environment. At this age, we want children to fall in love with coming to dance class . Through music, movement and carefully structured activities, children begin developing coordination, rhythm, spatial awareness, musicality and the foundations of ballet technique — without losing the magic and enjoyment that make those first dance classes so special. And, of course, our much-loved Babel bears Darcy, Starlet, Julia and Anna P are part of the adventure too! Each week, one lucky dancer may have the opportunity to take one of our bears home. Their adventures can then be recorded in our shared notebook, creating lovely memories for our youngest dancers and their families.
Heston Ballet & Tap
At our Heston branch , we also offer a special combined Ballet & Tap class for children aged 6 and under . This gives our younger dancers the opportunity to experience two wonderful styles of dance within one class. They can develop the grace, musicality and foundations of ballet alongside the rhythm, coordination and fun of tap. It’s a lovely introduction to dance for younger children and a great way for them to experience more than one dance style from an early age.
More Than Ballet Technique
The skills children develop through ballet reach far beyond the dance studio. They learn how to listen. How to concentrate. How to keep trying when something feels difficult. How to accept corrections positively. How to work independently and as part of a group. How to perform with confidence. How to be resilient when things don’t go perfectly the first time. And perhaps most importantly, they discover the satisfaction that comes from working towards something and realising: “I can do this.” Those are lessons that stay with children long after the music stops.
Ballet Classes at Hayes & Heston
We offer ballet classes for children from 3 years old at both our Hayes and Heston branches . Our classes are carefully structured so that children can learn and progress at an appropriate pace while enjoying being part of the Babel family. As our dancers grow in confidence, ability and experience, they progress through our ballet programme, developing their technique, musicality, performance skills and love of dance. Every child develops differently, so age is only part of our consideration when recommending the most appropriate class. Following a trial class, we can talk to you about where we feel your child will be happiest, most comfortable and best able to progress.

Starting Tap at Babel
Children can begin Tap at Babel from 4 years old . Our younger dancers are introduced to the basic foundations of tap in a fun, encouraging and age-appropriate way. They begin by discovering the different sounds their tap shoes can make and gradually learn how those sounds can be put together to create steps, rhythms and eventually combinations. For younger children especially, we believe it is important that learning technique and having fun go hand in hand. We want children to leave their class looking forward to coming back the following week!
Tap and Musical Theatre
Tap has a wonderful connection with the world of musical theatre. From classic stage productions to modern shows and films, tap has played an important role in some of the most memorable dance performances. For children who love performing, it provides another skill that can become incredibly valuable as their dance training develops. It also gives dancers the opportunity to show something that we particularly love at Babel: personality! Technique matters, but so does learning how to perform, communicate and enjoy being on stage.
