The centre has been established since 1995. Students of all ages and abilities attend the centre for an average of three years – the longest standing student has attended the centre for seven years. Several previous students also now help out as assistants in the dynamic, thriving centre. The centre is within the Cherwell School south-site and occupies the whole building which is on the ground level and accessible by a ramp. Students from all the local schools attend the centre and usually attend for about 30 minutes. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
