The centre opened in 2006, providing maths and English programmes for children of all ages and abilities throughout this area. Students at the centre mostly come from the towns of Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton and Ulverston, as well as surrounding villages and some even travel from Millom to attend class. There are currently a wide range of students, aged from four and onwards. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
