Les aventures de Minou et Trottine et les jouets Our fun-packed classes full of games, songs, story-telling and mini role plays will help the children: Get familiar with sounds of the French language Become confident in using phrases and words other than their mother tongue Develop listening and concentration skills Develop social skills Enjoy a variety of language-learning activities Use the French language creatively and for their own purposes, promoting independence Integrate French into school or home life Allow children of all abilities to experience success and develop personal confidence *Payment for classes must be made termly in advance of classes starting. Pay-as-you-go booking is not available. * For all new programme enrolments, the children’s activity book and access to the audio app must be purchased at the time of enrolment as they are an integral part of the course (activity books last at least one year).

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The Sherwood Study Centre opened in 2008 and is run from the Sherwood Methodist Church Hall. Students are invited to attend a maximum of two sessions per week where they are supported with their studies by a team of assistants. The assistants are all studying locally either for A levels or university courses. They possess a variety of areas of expertise including A levels in maths and English. We aim to develop students’ study skills and encourage a ‘have a go’ policy which engenders independence and confidence in learning and translates to other areas of the young people’s studies beyond the subjects studied at Kumon. The centre welcomes any age of young person. Our younger members are supported in a dedicated area where more interaction with the assistants takes place and where we develop independent study skills before they move to the main class. The centre also offers a dedicated area for students who find independent study and self-motivation more challenging. We have an assistant available to help maintain focus and deal with individual questions promptly.
