There is a good staff to student ratio, with six members of staff at each study centre session, giving a ratio of one assistant to five students even at the busiest times. The assistants have high levels of expertise in the maths and English programmes.
Younger children benefit from working at the young learners tables and receive close support from dedicated assistants whilst doing their studies. They also undertake a number of supplementary activities such as one-to-one oral reading and numberboards.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
