Intermediate Lego Robotics: SHMC
For confident builders aged 9+, these 90-minute sessions will push your child’s building, programming, and teamwork skills to new heights with complex LEGO Robotics challenges. Held fortnightly, each session sets a unique problem for children to solve in pairs. Using kits like Boost, EV3, and Spike Prime, they’ll design, build, and program robots to create effective solutions. The extended 90-minute format allows for deeper engagement and more advanced challenges than our pre-intermediate level class. This course is for children with prior LEGO Robotics experience. Priority is given to those who’ve completed our Introduction to Robotics with LEGO course or have proven skills. Challenges demand an intermediate understanding of programming and construction techniques.

Introduction to Robotics with Lego: SHMC
Begin your Beyond Blocks journey with Introduction to Robotics with LEGO. These hands-on sessions are an introduction to robotics with a difference, where your child will build much more than robots. Along the way, we work on building your child's ability to work in teams, solve problems logically, communicate their ideas and tackle complex tasks creatively without giving up. Working in pairs, your child will learn the fundamentals of programming and engineering by building and coding robots to solve problems, becoming confident problem solvers while ‘just playing with LEGO’. They'll build a new model every week, which forms the basis of the challenges we set. Each pair then modifies their model, experimenting, adapting and coding their own unique solution. Suitable for ages 7+. Children aged 6 can attend with a parent or carer. Adults are welcome to join older children too, but are expected to take part alongside their child as a participant.

Pre-intermediate Lego Robotics: SHMC
Our Pre-Intermediate LEGO Robotics course is designed for children aged 8+ with basic robotics experience gained from completing at least a year of our Introductory course. It bridges the gap between block programming and Scratch, offering a more powerful programming experience. Using familiar kits like WeDo 2.0, students build LEGO models and program them with Scratch, preparing for more advanced classes. This course suits students transitioning from introductory sessions or those with Scratch experience eager to explore LEGO robotics. As the course progresses, students tackle increasingly complex challenges, building models that solve intricate problems while continuing the fun and creativity of earlier sessions. Please note the lower age limit is strict as this class is challenging and bookings made for children below the age range will be refunded minus a booking fee. However, for older children who have never encountered LEGO Robotics this is the ideal starting point
