Fiddle Academy warmly welcomes fiddle/violin students of all ages and abilities. We meet (usually fortnightly) during the Orkney school term at the King Street Halls in Kirkwall, Orkney (please see newest dates below.) In addition to those who attend in person, students from all over the world connect with us on the day via Zoom - taking part without being heard! Our repertoire includes tunes from Orkney, Shetland, Scotland, Ireland, America and Scandinavia. We break the pieces down in to manageable chunks, allowing those students who struggle to read the music or prefer playing by ear to do so - all players welcome. We explore how to read music, improve technique, increase speed and ultimately try to improve our sound. It's a lively and friendly, no pressure, get together. Although the classes predominately consist of adult learners, mature minded children are also always very welcome. Simply come along when you can - pay as you go!
