The Queen Mother Theatre is a modern purpose – built theatre located on Walsworth Road in Hitchin Hertfordshire. Named for Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the theatre offers a varied programme of amateur productions. It is the home of the local performing group the Bancroft Players and the critically acclaimed Big Spirit Youth Theatre founded in 1984 which included the actor Ben Whishaw among its members. The Big Spirit Youth Theatre was founded in 1984 at the Queen Mother Theatre to offer actor training and performance opportunities to young people aged 14 to 18. Since then, Big Spirit (formerly known as the Bancroft Youth Theatre) has helped actors learn the skills of performance and many have gone on use their talents professionally.

The Norbury Theatre and Cinema is 100% volunteer run and offers an intimate venue for many varied events throughout the year. We have an extensive programme including a number of bookings by professional hirers and also high quality amateur productions. We offer films, music, dance and theatrical productions. Members range in age from 8 to 80 and beyond! Each year producing at a mixture of full length plays, musicals, one youth production and an annual pantomime. Visiting groups are welcomed, many returning each year. There is also a Studio Theatre seating 45, ideal for smaller productions, comedy evenings etc.

2026/2027 Mini MT 1 (Nursery)

What is Mini MT? Mini MT is a 60 minute filled session with fun for children who attend nursery from the age of 3 years old. This class is exciting, energetic and is great for children to try out Musical Theatre before starting school. We base our classes around nursery rhymes and songs children are familiar with to ensure the children feel comfortable. The structure of the class is 15 minutes per subject, Singing, Dance and Drama, however is it very much led by what the children enjoy at this age. Confidence building is a key aspect throughout this session. We have 2 members of staff in this class and we keep our numbers small to ensure children do not become overwhelmed. This is a teacher led class and we cannot allow parents to sit in on the class. You can sit in the car, grab a coffee or pop back home during class time knowing that your little one is in safe hands with our fully qualified team members.
