Students will get to study either Public Speaking or Acting LAMDA. This class is mixed for maximum benefit (Public Speakers progress more quickly in emotion when mixed with the Public Speakers, Actors progress more quickly with analysing texts when mixed with the Public Speakers - age range is capped at 12 - 17 years old). Classes are kept small for more 1:1 time with the teaching team. We work on confidence building, voice, body language, emotion, speech structure as well as prepping all students for the knowledge section of the LAMDA exams. Students do not have to take LAMDA exams, however, they will be offered an exam once per academic year.

At Echo Theatre, we believe musical theatre performers are actors first and foremost. Our Junior training focuses on building "the Musical Theatre actor" by combining vocal technique with true storytelling. We move away from just "singing a song" and instead teach our students how to create believable characters and own their performance with conviction. In this class, our students develop: Vocal Confidence: Learning to use their voice safely and effectively. Character Interpretation: Bringing meaning and acting to every lyric. Performance Presence: Gaining the skills to "own a song" and connect with an audience. The Performance Commitment Performance is at the heart of our school. Joining this class means committing to performing with us twice a year. We are more than happy to work with students who are still building their confidence to get on stage, but being part of our shows is a requirement of the class. Children will experience the circus! They will take part in plate spinning, hat tricks, diabolo, devil sticks, staff spinning, juggling, poi, hula hooping and loads more with a focus on keeping active!
Our 1.5 hour class is filled with all things acting, singing and performance skills. Each week the students will learn script work, music and choreography for their end of year Showcase.
