We are going to be working with Youth Shedz Cymru to give free fishing sessions for local young people on our fishing boat. We would like to give back to the community, it is great to collaborate with Youth Shedz Cymru they liaise with local schools, groups, the police and other organisations trying to find the kids who need our support the most in our community. Their charity isn’t a typical youth club where we may see 40+ kids a week, they work with small groups of young people 13-25yrs old who may be struggling with confidence, may be neurodivergent, may struggle keeping out of trouble with police and school, not have many friends or a social group and some kids who may come from disadvantaged backgrounds where they don’t get to experience many things that other kids do, due to certain circumstances. We have asked Cybi Youth shedz to lead on this offer with the understanding that each young person who gets to come on the trip will sign an enrolment form to youth shedz, and will also complete a community project to raise funds for the RNLI as the new school term starts join our small Shedz group. Adventure activities are tailored to meet the needs of various groups. Corporate teams enjoy team-building challenges, faith groups engage in reflective outdoor activities, and Stag & Hen parties have high-energy adventures, while schools & youth organizations benefit from development-focused activities. Over the last few weeks we have been engaged with the Army Welfare Service supporting children and young people from military families on residential courses here in the Peak District. The Army Welfare Service still operates a fully functional Youth Service. This was great foresight by the MOD to continue operating their service while Youth Services at County and LEA levels were systematically demolished by successive governments since 2010. The young people were representative of the very mixed heritages serving in the UK armed forces; Nepalese, Fijian Jamaican, South Africa, Ghana and other commonwealth countries. What a great vibe !! All are now all safely back with their parents.
