🌿 Following nature’s rhythm at Twig & Tumble in 2027 In 2027, I’ll be taking inspiration from the Wheel of the Year to shape our themes at Twig & Tumble, giving our play a rhythm rooted in the natural world. The Wheel of the Year marks eight seasonal festivals, including the solstices and equinoxes. It has pagan roots and draws on seasonal traditions, following the changing light and the movement through winter rest, spring growth, summer abundance

and autumn harvest. For our children, these ideas become something they can see, touch and explore. We might notice the first buds, plant seeds, investigate insects, gather fallen leaves or discover what happens to the woodland in winter. Stories, crafts, sensory play and movement will bring those changes into our sessions. It’s also a lovely way to explore cycles. A seed grows into a plant, flowers and produces new seeds. Leaves emerge, fall and gradually return nutrients to the soil. Animals respond to changing seasons, and familiar signs return each year, giving children opportunities to notice, remember, predict and ask questions. Following this rhythm makes space for both excitement and quieter moments, for growing and gathering, slowing down and beginning again. It offers us adults a chance to pause alongside our children too, noticing the small changes we can easily miss in a busy week. My aim is to help children build a relationship with nature through repeated, playful experiences, with room for every family’s beliefs and traditions. A year of muddy hands, curious minds and discovering that we are part of nature’s story too. 🌱
