The Thursday Room (ages 10 to 16)

By Kev's Class

At a glance

The Thursday Room is a space, not a class. Every Thursday we open a room at Kingsknowe for home-educated young people aged 10 to 16. There is no timetable, no activity, no lesson and no adult running the day. Young people arrive, settle in, and get on with whatever they came to do. Some will bring work they are partway through. Some will bring a project, a book, a sketchbook, or something they have been meaning to finish for weeks. Some will spend a good part of the day talking to other people their age who are also educated at home, which is a real part of why the room exists. We provide the room. Your young person brings the plan.

and discover what they can do when they feel supported. Everything we offer is shaped by our Confidence First Philosophy, which centres on self-belief, resilience, curiosity, connection and purpose. Families often share that Kev’s Class feels different. That is because we are not just a place to learn, we are a community that celebrates children for who they are today and helps them grow into who they can become. Whether a child joins us for tutoring, a camp, a retreat or a full programme, they will find warmth, encouragement and a space where confidence comes first.
