independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Young learners and new students work with an assistant to develop their study skills and concentration so that they are able to eventually study independently. Initially each child is given a free assessment, the programme is explained in more detail and a study plan is made which allows the student to build on their current skills. Children can attend the centre up to twice a week. Class is an ideal environment for the instructor to observe and support each child, set new work and ensure that they leave the centre smiling and confident with the work they have covered. Kumon does not provide tuition in the traditional sense; rather than teaching our students, we encourage them to learn as individuals, developing independent learning strategies to successfully complete new, unfamiliar work.
